The interior art glass matches the exterior with designs showing stylized seedings, blossoms and leafy branches of fruit trees. However, the interior glass is simplified with an etched design instead of colored glass. Stylized seedlings, blossoms and leafy branches are highlighted in the art glass — as colored glass in the exterior windows and as etched designs in the interior art glass. The plaza at the west entry consists of mixed concrete and stone pavers, with stone steps leading to the entrance.

After the dedication or rededication, Church members with temple recommends can enter to perform sacred ordinances. The temple sits on a beautiful slope between the mountains and the valley floor, with a beautiful mountain backdrop. They also reflect an Art Nouveau style, incorporating vibrant colors and stylized organic flowers and foliage reminiscent of the motifs found throughout the temple. Double-check any estimates you receive to confirm that they include the exact paint formula you want to use and not a cheaper one. Of course, all that time, labor, and paint is going to cost you. Read on to get house exterior paint cost estimates based on size, condition, location, and more. The number of stories plays into the painting cost due to increased surface area and higher labor costs. Retaining walls, foundations, basement walls – any surface made from brick, concrete blocks, or stucco will especially benefit from this high-quality weatherproof paint. You can apply this paint in temperatures as low as 35 degrees Fahrenheit or as high as 90 degrees Fahrenheit and rest assured that it will dry quickly in any weather. The finish is mold-, algae-, and mildew-resistant, making it one of the best exterior paints for humid regions.

Welcoming Exterior House Colors

Use the paint scraper and heat gun to remove loose, crumbling, flaking, or bubbled paint that will compromise your paint job. With most homes, not all paint needs to be removed—just the unstable paint. Place plastic sheeting under the work area to catch paint debris. Homes built before 1978 may have been painted with lead-based paint. Test the paint with a home kit or call in a professional testing company. Many factors can shorten or lengthen the lifespan of exterior paint.

If you live in an area with cooler temperatures, be sure to choose a paint that dries well in that climate; the same if you live in a warmer region. For humid locations that receive lots of rain, a mildew-resistant formula is recommended, while a highly-sunny locale necessitates a UV-resistant one instead. All of these and more are factors you’ll want to account for when you choose the best exterior paint for your outdoor project.

From the iconic Historical Collection, this color combination forms a timeless trio rooted in the hues of American history. If primer is sprayed on, “back-brushing” it immediately by hand will work the coating into every crack and crevice. Scraping paint by hand is a grueling task because you’ve got to attack it from every direction. But compared to power grinders and sanders, it’s the least damaging way to remove the old layers. You can speed up the process by using a heating gun to soften the paint (as shown).

Most paint products advise not to paint when the temperature is below 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

To add a splash of color and character to an all-gray home, try painting the front door mustard yellow. Gray and yellow are a longtime go-to color combination, and choosing a more muted yellow tone keeps the accent color from looking too prominent. This usually requires a $300 professional shop vac, plastic sheeting, and duct tape to prevent lead paint from getting into the bushes, grass, or air. You'll also want to consult an EPA-certified contractor who knows how to properly remove and dispose of the residue. A small wire brush works wonders scrubbing a paintbrush, while scrapers are excellent at scraping paint off rollers before washing out any remaining residue. It’s possible to buy 18-inch rollers, but these are only suitable for large surfaces like a gable end with few openings. If you spot any loose render or flaking paint after the hose-down, use a spatula or wire brush to remove it. With this earthy color as a base, exterior house color schemes are nearly limitless. Your color choices may be governed by local regulations or policies. Check homeowners association (HOA) guidelines and city zoning laws. Some HOAs and cities may require you to get exterior house paint color ideas approved before you paint. Check out these exterior paint color ideas on a variety of house in a range of settings that will help you to choose a paint color to complement your home.

Expert Painting and Meticulous Cleanup

Factors like weather, climate and your existing paint job affect how often you may need to paint. In general, you should paint your house every five to 10 years. This color’s vintage feel makes it especially suitable for a Craftsman-style home. Simple and elegant, Craftsman homes often have stone or brick accents. Using fall colors as inspiration, consider either a light or dark trim color to complement the brick or stone.

The burnt orange window trim and roofing bring out the warmth in the off-white siding. As you choose new colors, think about how long you’ll want stay in your house. If you’ll be selling your house before it’s time to paint again, stick to more neutral colors. Then you can expand your palette to anything allowed by local guidelines and zoning laws. This color has stepped out of the shadows and is showing up among exterior paint ideas more and more often.

How Much Does It Cost to Paint a House's Exterior?

That means you won’t save much money by going for inexpensive, low-quality paint. Usually, it’s a good idea to opt for the highest quality your budget will allow. Better paint will stay visually appealing for longer, increasing the amount of time between paint jobs. Pair black siding with white trim, which will highlight your home's architectural features and prevent the dark neutral from appearing too gloomy.

You’ll be living with these colors for the next decade, if you’re lucky, so try not to let anything (your contractor’s schedule included) rush your decision. After letting the primer dry, I applied color on the wall with the airless sprayer. Instead of masking off the soffit, I just shielded it from the spray using an old cedar shake. Give your home's exterior a fresh look, enhancing its curb appeal and protecting it from the elements.

Additionally, if you’re unsure what exterior paint color to choose, you might want to meet with a painting company color consultant. This calming and notable hue works especially well on homes set in established neighborhoods or on tree-lined streets. On this true-blue exterior, trim painted white outlines the roof peaks and windows. Black paint highlights sashes and dentil moldings around the windows and the door trim.

Natural stone and architectural windows by Pella complete the Atlanta home’s fresh feel. It’s perfect for painting wood siding where you’re not scraping and sanding down to bare wood. Painting a whole house is a huge task, but the work isn’t hard. Depending on the size of the wall, you can complete the painting in two or three days.

“If I can see the color coming through, I know I need to apply more paint,” he says. On the cottage shown in this story, he chose a gray-blue primer to go under a peach top coat. The finish refers to how much light the paint reflects when dry. There four most popular paint finishes are flat, semi-gloss, high-gloss and satin. If you will be selling your home in the near future, you could choose one of your favorite colors for the trim of a white house. As you get your house ready to list, replace the trim color with a more neutral tone to appeal to buyers.

With the screwdriver and cordless drill, remove all items that are easily removable such as house numbers, lights, security cameras, flag mounts, dryer vents and mailboxes. When painting high areas of the house, be careful when standing on the ladder. It’s easy to become preoccupied with painting and lose your balance.

As seen in here, an off-white exterior lets this lush green front lawn and pillared entryway take center stage. That thin skin of resin and pigment also protects your investment, shielding it from sun, wind, and rain—until the paint begins to crack and peel, that is. For the cost of a few cases of exterior paint, plus some patching and sanding, you can have a whole new home. Light coral pairs well with blue-gray for an eye-catching, yet understated look. The three-color approach is common for Victorian and Edwardian houses, but works for any style of home.

Planting flowers and shrubs in front of a pale yellow house adds even more curb appeal. If your house has a front porch, choose furnishings that go well with your accent colors to create an inviting scene. After furniture is removed, professionals patch and sand any imperfections in your walls and clean the walls if they’re dusty or have residue from smoking. “You have to look for cracks and divots, small dents,” says Barry Krall, brand president of the painting company Groovy Hues in Omaha, Nebraska, or those imperfections can show up on a finished wall.

If you're interested in a mineral-based paint, such as limewash, for brick, know that those cost more, running between $100 and $150 per gallon. Some acrylic paint is water-based and may be called latex acrylic paint. Other times, acrylic paint has a blend of chemicals as a solvent. This makes it even more flexible and elastic than latex paint, also making it more weatherproof. However, it’s not quite as spreadable or quick-drying as latex paint. The price for latex and acrylic is quite comparable, with both options costing $20–$70 per gallon.

During our visit we explored both the Whaler’s Cove and the Cypress Grove South Shore. If you head in the direction of the Cypress Grove South Shore, there’s a long trail on top of the cliffs that gives you stunning oceans views. The trail is very well maintained and we had no problem pushing our stroller along the path. All of the seals and otters we saw were at the Cypress Grove Shore.

The Deli was jam-packed full of delicious options including a salad bar. We chose made-to-order sandwiches (turkey, tuna, and ham) and all were delicious. This is a great place to purchase picnic fixings for a day at the beach or parks. The fondue pot was filled with Gruyere, Emmenthaler, and Appenzeller cheese with roasted tomatoes and cream. We dipped bread, vegetables, and apples into a pot of gooey deliciousness. We had a fun evening filled with lots of laughter and a new fondue dining experience.

We had a delicious hearty breakfast at Friar Tuck’s in Carmel the next morning, which is a great local joint, clearly a favorite of the residents. We sampled the Firecracker Shrimp, which was slightly spicy and really tasty, and some delicately fried zucchini and broccoli as appetizers. I had a refreshing arugula and beet salad for my main course and I loved it.

When you pull up to Hofsas House, you will feel like you stumbled into a European Inn. Many of the rooms have ocean views above the treetops where the sunsets are magnificent, A walk to the beautiful beach is a pleasant stroll through town, about a half mile away. We found a bottle of wine and delicious cheese from The Cheese Shop Carmel waiting in our room. We visited this shop to purchase cheese and crackers to enjoy on our ride home. This was the first time my daughter visited a cheese specialty shop (not in a grocery store). After the long drive, we decided to pick up dinner and bring it back to the hotel.

Cozy up in an Adirondack chair around the fire pit at Hotel Carmel

The city center of Monterey is also a 15 minute drive from the hotel. Hofsas House is perfectly located a couple blocks away from the main downtown hub of Carmel-by-the-Sea. We really enjoyed being able to walk to the best selection of restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping. We have taken many roads up and down California’s famous Highway 1, but this was our first time staying in Carmel-by-the-Sea. This world renowned little beach town has been a popular vacation destination for many decades, and we finally got the opportunity to see why. Carmel is an exceptional destination on the Pacific Coastline because of its abundance of natural beauty and picturesque landscape.

Not having to behave around other guests first thing is also helpful. The three other stories of the Hotel were built below street level against a hillside. There is plenty of off-street parking that can be accessed from San Carlos Street next to the office and from a driveway down to the ground level. All of the rooms have Dutch doors and with the top half open, the ocean breezes were lovely. Carmel-by-the-Sea has some unique ordinances to ensure the town maintains its non-commercial natural charm.

What we absolutely loved about our room were the two full bathrooms. This is the most family-friendly amenity a hotel can offer! One was located inside the bedroom and the other off the living area. This was a much-appreciated design, especially for my teen daughter. Two bathrooms enabled us to avoid the typical morning backup.

The property is perfectly located and had a great view of the ocean. The property is older and the rooms are decorated in a very eclectic style. We began with an appetizer of swiss pastry pastetli filled with three types of mushrooms and parmesan cheese.

If you’re looking to have a fun shopping experience, Carmel is the place for you. The town is home to many unique boutique shops that sell everything from clothes and jewelry to home goods and art. Carmel Beach is one of the most iconic Pacific Ocean beaches on the California coast. The white sand, cypress trees, and scenic paths make it a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. Carmel is also notable for its scenic views; the town is surrounded by cypress trees, and the nearby Carmel Beach offers opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and picnicking.

Our Top 10 Reasons We Loved Our Stay at Hofsas House Hotel in Carmel-by-the-Sea

Ms. Theis arranged a special treat for us on our second evening. This restaurant is located in The Barnyard – a shopping center just ten minutes from the hotel. So, as much as we enjoyed our stay at Hofsas House and in Carmel-by-the-Sea, we will probably choose another area to stay the next time we travel with our kids.

Hofsas House Hotel in Carmel: Review

She put away her computer, pulled up the covers and went fast to sleep. The Hofsas House is also a short drive to the best sandy beach, perfect for a picnic. Carmel Beach is a short 10 minute drive or 20 minute walk from the hotel. Popular Carmel attractions such as Point Lobos State Natural Reserve and the Carmel Mission are 15 minutes away.

With both the shoreline and the inland surroundings, they strike a balance between untouched nature and a well loved and manicured town. Featuring an outdoor heated pool and a sauna, Hofsas House Hotel is located in Carmel By the Sea and offers charming accommodation. Those staying at the property can also make use of free wireless internet. It was a joy to meet with her and learn about the lovely town and her family’s hotel. If you visit, she’ll likely be around spreading her warmth to new hotel guests. The village of Carmel is only 1 square mile so you can walk everywhere.

I was looking forward to photographing the spectacular scenery. We stayed at the Hofsas House Hotel Family-Friendly Lodging. My family stayed in Pacific Grove several years ago, and we have fond memories of the area. It’s a beautiful part of the world and a nice change from our Southern California beaches and weather. We were super impressed with this beach, the sand was so soft and sparkling white. You can either opt to walk along the Scenic Road trail that runs parallel to the ocean or you can set up a picnic on the sand, we did both!

This welcoming mural was painted by Maxine Albro for her friend Donna Hofsas, the founder of the hotel. You will also recognize her distinctive paintings in the lobby and her decorative touches throughout the hotel to enhance the charming Bavarian theme. Maxine took a trip to Mexico after her formal art training and was influenced by Diego Rivera’s stylized figures. The hotel has been family owned by the Theis family for four generations and seven decades. The town is located on the Pacific coast about 330 miles north of Los Angeles and 120 miles south of San Francisco. We loved the big room, the originality as well as the friendly owner and staff there.

You will also find a dry sauna, viewing deck areas and free wireless Internet access. Unlike chain hotels, there are no annoying add- on fees for parking or amenities. In 1957, the main hotel and the swimming pool were built. Today, Donna’s granddaughter Carrie Theis is the general manager and is a wealth of knowledge about the hotel, and about Carmel and its history.

Hotel & Amenities Photos

Besides the family history behind the hotel, it’s also a beautiful Bavarian-inspired inn with an artistic, European style. I love seeing the charming houses, many with beautiful flowers and landscaping. Carrie said the heated pool had been redone since our last visit but the weather was too cold and rainy to take a dip this time.

We made good use of the kitchen in our room by prepping her meals, washing her bottles, we kept snacks for ourselves and chiledl our wine and cheese. Wake up and rise to a sweet and fresh continental breakfast in the Hofsas House Lobby. We enjoyed muffins, fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, milk, orange juice and hot beverages such as coffee and tea.

I was pleasantly surprised to find plentiful and free parking right near the beach. Head west on Ocean Avenue and you will end up at the beach. The hotel is ideal for family reunions and small conferences. The conference room is located poolside and includes a full kitchen. Guests are welcome to bring their own chef or work with the Hofsas House chef. Breakfast in our room avoids having to drive and wait in a restaurant.

We recently had the opportunity to explore Carmel By The Sea, CA, and stay at the enchanting Hofsas House hotel. We had such a fantastic time we couldn’t wait to tell everyone all about it. The restaurant has been a Carmel favorite since 1980 and is known for excellent food and wine, and attentive service. Holman Ranch was our favorite wine from our last visit and now has a tasting room in town.

Hofsas House is four stories connected by exterior staircases however, only one story sits above street level. The office is located on San Carlos Street near Fourth Street. In order to set my disabled daughter up for a successful trip, especially a road trip, my friend Judy and our service dogs joined us. Thanks to our lovely family-friendly accommodations and a nice blend of activities with downtime, we had a fun and successful trip. My family embarked on a road trip north from Los Angeles to Carmel-by-the-Sea. I had not taken a road trip to this beautiful coastal area in many years.

You will find many wine tasting rooms sprinkled throughout town and most will ship wine to you back home. A lovely bottle of wine and cheese from the local cheese shop was waiting to welcome us when we arrived. Now that my husband and I are empty-nesters, we love to get away whenever we can. We had the opportunity to visit one of our favorite California cities, Carmel-by-the-Sea in Monterey County, California and stay at the warm and welcoming Hofsas House. While the weather was not the best during our visit, it rained quite a bit, but it turned out to be a cozy, very relaxing time to reconnect and unwind for a few days. Highlights of our drive were the Ghost Trees at Pescadero Point – they are sun-bleached, needless cypress trees that are quite spooky.

With the free off-street parking, it's the perfect place to park the car and walk to explore the area. While the beach is about a 20-minute walk away, it's still easily accessible, especially if guests opt for taking the car. Just 5-minutes’ walk from restaurants and shops in Carmel city center, Hofsas House Hotel features a heated outdoor pool and a continental breakfast with fresh pastries. Free WiFi is included in all rooms.A TV with cable channels offers in-room entertainmen.

You’ll want to have these around the house if you have a haunted theme in mind. Martha Stewart has all the easy directions for you to follow.

Best Spooktacular Halloween Decorations to Try in 2021

These items can be affordable and whimsical (and you can even keep them around for your post-Halloween fall decor once the holiday is over). That isn’t all you can do with this idea because the possibilities are endless! For example, you could even use the same idea but with soda instead of cranberry juice. Then, you could add some grenadine syrup, dish soap, and red food coloring to create a genuinely perfect Halloween party decoration that won’t go unnoticed.

Upcycling Tin Cans with Scrapbooking Paper

Back when my kiddos were little, I was younger and had tons more energy back then. So this meant that the house was an explosion of holiday decor. Just cut some Halloween shapes out of black construction paper and frame them. I recommend getting the ones that have a timer and/or remote control so that you don’t have to spend a bunch of time turning them all on and off. Tease the threads apart so you don’t end up with big clumps of spider web. Keep reading to find out how to make your house look haunted.

The stretchable spider webs that come in a bag are a Halloween decor staple. However, this year, give your cobwebs a hauntingly creepy spin. Once the spider webs are up, place a red spotlight behind the webs to change the look from basic to fantastic with a frightening glow. Keep up the spooky transformation by attaching large spiders to the webs. Create eerie glowing eyes that can be hidden in bushes, in trees and around dark corners. Grab a few paper towel rolls, cut holes in the side of the roll to resemble different monster or creature eyes, and place a glow stick inside of the roll.

Opt for higher qualify dĂ©cor to avoid the look feeling cheesy — think flea market finds over party store. Swap your standard wine glasses for black opaque ones and invite a few ghoulish friends over for a dinner party to help celebrate this Halloween. This is a great way to make your house look like it’s filled with monsters without having spend money on, and find storage space for, a whole cast. Okay, so this is scary, but flowers always give your home a welcoming vibe.

Cute Ways to Decorate for Halloween That Aren’t Scary

A great way to create a scary Halloween decoration is to build one that looks alive! If you seek an outdoor Halloween decoration idea that will truly spook your friends, try making a scary witch that looks just like you. It’s time to bring some Halloween spirit to your front door with this spooky and whimsical wreath project! It can certainly turn your home into a haunted house for trick-or-treaters who come knocking at your door on October 31st. A black feather chandelier is an excellent decoration idea for your Halloween party. This project lets you create a multi-purpose piece that can also be used as part of your table setting, depending on the occasion.

Halloween Decorating Ideas That Are Spooky Yet Chic

Many are made of ceramic or resin type materials and can be used inside or outdoors. Alot of them light up or have enough space for a flameless tea light inside. One of the things I like about table runners is that they don’t take up a lot of space in storage. You can rotate them out over the years or consider layering them for a festive look. To announce the divine spirit within, create a DIY "Boo" sign to hang on your bedroom door. Crafted with creativity, this sign welcomes all who dare to enter your Halloween retreat.

Ashley Knierim has over a decade of experience in writing, editing, and content strategy. She held positions at Time Magazine, AOL, and JPMorgan Chase. She is also a home décor and DIY enthusiast who spends her free time decorating (and redecorating) her home. You can repurpose old wood pallets to make a scary graveyard or empty cans to make lanterns. Check out your scrap bins for miscellaneous materials that would make cool decor this Halloween. A stylish, modern take on seasonal pumpkin decor, these colorful glass pumpkins have been crafted from mouthblown recycled glass.

Not to mention that trick-or-treaters will have a hard time reaching your front door due to fear. The following steps show how to make a ghost that hovers in the air and looks like it’s not connected to anything. Start by drawing a circle on white fabric using chalk, then cut it out with scissors. Finally, make sure to take a photo and publish it online, so your friends can see your work of art! You will probably get many compliments for this spooky Halloween decoration.

If you’re looking for easy DIY outdoor Halloween decorations, try creating a spiderweb! It’s simple and quick to create and can be made with things you find around the house. If you don’t want spiders crawling out of your web, use plastic or silk fake ones. Pumpkin scarecrows are an easy way to decorate the yard for Halloween, and they also double as decorations for Thanksgiving! Don’t wait until the last minute to start working on this outdoor Halloween decoration idea, as it can be a bit time-consuming.

You could also drape part of the skeleton in a white sheet and add a few splashes of fake blood to emphasize the fear factor. Alternatively, you can buy a mermaid skeleton from the Internet like the one shown in this photo. We love that it has long blue hair and a crown of blue flowers. Afterward, carve out holes on either side so you can attach the bones later.

Make them in different sizes by changing the size of the balloon. Scatter them around the house to make it haunted with ghosts. Another one of the cute ways to decorate for Halloween around your house is to use jar candles with witty Halloween sayings. You can find candles like this online or throughout stores such as Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, etc. I’ve noticed these vintage ceramic Christmas trees making a comeback in recent years.

The Haunt Ghost Tours

It’s exciting to see that some brands are starting to make Halloween versions now! I like the idea of using one of these trees on a side table or tucked into a bookcase. It’s a fun way to provide a little bit of a glow for a space at night. Any cute Halloween decor ideas that light up will help give your home a cozy vibe for the cooler season. Another one of the cute ways to decorate for Halloween is to use throw pillows. Throw pillows are an easy way to change out your decor from season to season.

Head to your local flea market or antique store and find a few vintage medicine bottles to decorate with this year. Sprinkle them around your bookshelves or entryway way console tables for a haunted house vibe that's filled with personality. Halloween is about more than just candy and costumes–it's all about the decorations, too. But this year, instead of filling your home with kitschy plastic pumpkins, opt for something a little classier.

Ghosts Everywhere – Halloween House Decorations Ideas

They are not only Halloween party decorations but also edible. Add a little spookiness to this year’s Halloween with ghostly decorations that are sure to scare trick-or-treaters half to death! They’re also perfect for indoor use, just if you want your kids or pets playing around with them. Feel free to use the image above as inspiration, which features scary pumpkins, spider webs, blood, candles, and a large cloth with a bloody message that says Happy Halloween.

Halloween Hallway Ideas

You can pick up a printed copy of the list at their retail partners, too. Here’s a list of amazing Halloween decorations you can see driving around SoCal in 2023. Make a point this year to get out there and see as many of them as you can. To pull off the most efficient — and energy-saving — spooky house, Pranga suggests that you “put all of your displays on a timer or a remote.

Create a Luminaria

Some of the best Halloween décor can be found right outside of your house. Instead of decorating with fresh blooms, mix in a few oversized branches this season for a fall-y look that is perfect from September through December. We love this floating witch hat vignette that is perfect for adding a hint of spooky vibes to your home. Hang a witch's hat from floss and sprinkle a few other witchy details to complete the look. For a Halloween look that doesn't feel creepy or spooky, stick to fall-themed decor. Burnt sienna and orange hues are perfect to bring your décor look all the way through November.

The whole family can get involved by carving or painting the pumpkins to personalize them to your interests and Halloween theme. If you’ve got a fireplace setup, this fire pit skull would be the perfect addition. Pick a theme, such as frightening skeletons, pumpkin patches, witches, or ghosts, and decorate the interior and outside of your home. Choosing a specific Halloween theme can clarify the area and guide you as you bring your seasonal appearance to life. That brief moment when trick-or-treaters don their scariest costumes and parade through the streets in search of the sweetest candy. We hang fake skeletons, construct cobwebs out cotton, and try our best to make our yards and house interiors appear as eerie as possible.

Lawn Skeletons Halloween Yard Decorations

Another place to add this machine is near the veranda, so those approaching your front step feel eerie with your fog machine, carved pumpkins, and scary music. People would wear scary costumes and light bonfires in order to scare off ghosts and bad spirits. What better way to get ready for Halloween than to start decorating your home with a few fabulous ideas.

This décor, contrary to popular belief, is more difficult to accomplish. You must exercise caution when creating since it is all too easy to get carried away, resulting in a place that is dispersed, untidy, and inexpensive. Usually, the time to start getting ready for Halloween is the first two weeks in October. Those who are really into it can be seen putting decorations up as early as September. Hanging spider webs along the fence with spiders, rubber snakes, zombies, and ghosts can all set the mood. First impressions are always good, which is why decorating your front door will create a huge impact upon arrival.

So add these thrilling displays to your list of Halloween events and activities. For many families, October is all about Halloween, and there are many ways to celebrate. If you’re planning to decorate your home yourself, one thing you will need is time. Depending on the size and scope of your spooky house, you can expect to dedicate about four to six hours to decorating, says Pranga, so make sure to set aside ample time. This is especially important, he notes, because Halloween decor can be extremely flammable, so it’s best to take the time to be as careful as possible. Hay bales, corn stalks, pumpkins, and other elements that can be tied in with the spookier side of things.

Crisis Stabilization Center

tuerk house

Having a closer treatment facility will make it easier for them to get the care they need, he said. The Tuerk House unveiled the third phase of a $10.2 million renovation project that includes a pharmacy and a state-of-the-art café where patients can choose from healthy food options. There are currently 40 beds in use, and by the end of 2023, the Tuerk House hopes to have 92 beds in which people can recover comfortably. Patients are able to stay for up to one year and benefit from a highly-structured treatment environment at either a medium-intensity or low-intensity level of support on their path to sobriety.

Empty warehouse to be transformed into place of refuge, restoration, recovery

It will operate in partnership with Tuerk House’s crisis stabilization center in West Baltimore, which it started with the Baltimore City Health Department in 2018. On Friday, the facility in West Baltimore unveiled a new kitchen, gym and medical center that includes a pharmacy as part of a multiyear, $10.2 million expansion program. That’s in addition to 18 more beds for clients seeking detoxification treatment. The center can now admit 60, plus treat others on an outpatient basis. Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone.

Inpatient Detoxification

Participants receive counseling, psychoeducation, recovery groups, and skills training. The building was completed and donated to the University of California in 2016 to be used for the Stuart House program. All Stuart House services are provided free of charge to the children and families served.

Alcoholism

Many of these interviews are conducted in cold, institutional settings, such as police stations and hospital ERs, by people who are not trained in “best practices” for interviewing children at different stages of development. These experiences can be intimidating to traumatized children and impede their disclosures. In addition, many child victims never receive expert medical care, forensic services or the skilled therapy and other support services they need to heal from the traumatic effects of sexual abuse. Inpatient DetoxWithdrawal management supports individuals safely and comfortably detox from drugs and alcohol with the use of medication. Once stabilized, participants are referred to an inpatient or outpatient addiction treatment program. The nonprofit also plans to include 40 crisis stabilization beds in the new facility for people in need of emergency treatment for mental health or substance use problems.

"We are having a big challenge with our youth in the city, and we want to be part of the solution helping stakeholders to be able to address some of these things, as well." "I think, for us, the impetus is not necessarily to grow and expand just for the heck of it," said Bernard Gyebi-Foster, CEO of the Tuerk House. "It is much more of trying to figure out the needs within the health treatment system and try to fill those gaps." "When people go to a place like this, what it communicates to them is dignity, that we care for them, and that has a lot of effects on their psyche." Peer recovery specialists work with patients to help them stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse. This Is Why a Tudor Style House Is Rare These Days

With every step, patients learn how to apply recovery and self-care skills and build a social network that is supportive of their sobriety. Tuerk House offers multiple levels of residential treatment, giving our patients a stepping-stone approach to success in their commitment to life-long recovery. Medication-assisted treatment helps those struggling with substance use disorders by helping to balance the areas of the brain affected by addiction. Individualized treatment using a variety of medication options, including methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone and naloxone.

From ceiling beams to intricate wall paneling, Tudor homes can look as much like an English manor on the inside as they do on the outside. Before they received evidence of what football did to their son’s brain. Since that center — the first in Maryland — opened, it has provided services to more than 2,000 adults under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or who recently were revived from an overdose, Tuerk House said in a news release. An empty warehouse building in east Baltimore will soon be transformed into a place of refuge, restoration and recovery for people struggling with addiction. Marc Clarke visits Tuerk House to speak with Dr. Maud Ayree about their residential treatment program and new Exeter location for pregnant women and adolescents. Baltimore City State's Attorney Ivan Bates said programs like this are crucial for those struggling with mental illness or addiction issues who commit quality-of-life crimes.

Addiction-related services at Tuerk House include mental health assessments, counseling, detox, residential addiction treatment, outpatient programs, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and peer support services. The Center includes an Opioid Crisis Unit specifically designed to provide respite care for those under the influence of opioids. Quitting drugs and alcohol on your own can cause uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects caused by the withdrawal process.

Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. Clients who are leaving inpatient rehab often choose to transition into an intensive outpatient program (IOP) to receive high-level support as they reintegrate into their home, workplace, and community. Clients typically participate in nine to 20 hours of treatment weekly, with modalities ranging from psychotherapy to addiction and recovery education. Many programs also provide medication assisted treatment (MAT) and complementary care, such as nutrition counseling, and acupuncture.

During the height of the colonial revival period (1910–1940), "this style comprised 25 percent of the suburban houses built," Pennoyer says. The unique style is still an appealing option for some buyers who want to own a historic home as it has proven to be worth the investment once the time and budget are spent reviving the structure. The league has spent more than $100 million recruiting children to play tackle football, according to the CLF, which cited official funding announcements by the NFL. Determined to honor the memory of their late son, the Tuerks have joined the Concussion Legacy Foundation in its Flag Football Under 14 campaign, which discourages children from playing tackle football before high school.

Services provided include 24/7 clinically managed care and support; individual and group counseling sessions; and ongoing case management for housing, employment, transportation and other needs. Tuerk House also operates a neighboring crisis stabilization center on behalf of the Baltimore Department of Health that provides acute care for intoxication or overdoses. It’s designed to keep people out of the emergency room or jail, and officials direct those who use the center to the longer-term services next door. Tuerk House offers 2 levels of residential treatment, giving our patients a stepping-stone approach to success in their commitment to life-long recovery.

They'll have 22 beds dedicated to each group in addition to 40 crisis beds, a primary care center, outpatient mental health treatment and corporate offices. The Tuerk House is a behavioral health treatment facility for people with substance use disorder. The nonprofit unveiled its renovation project at their west Baltimore center in January.

The Tuerk House, which serves about 300 patients every day throughout the city, held a ribbon-cutting at its main campus Friday in celebration of a whole new wing at the center. It's all about restoration -- restoring the building and adding new spaces to help restore more people who are struggling with addiction and mental illness. The latest expansion phase for the nonprofit Tuerk House, its third, is the last major addition of client inpatient beds. The next and last phase will include more amenities that can be used by the community, including an outdoor garden. The facility already offers urgent, and some routine, medical care for neighbors.

Tudor style houses were typically designed with interiors that complemented the exterior in terms of design style. The asymmetry of the front facade of the house also enhanced the interior layout, Peter notes. It "offered great flexibility to the architect in terms of interior planning," he says. "The plan was not dictated by strict symmetry on the facades, allowing diversity in room heights, window placement, angled wings, etc." Interiors are often heavily accented in dark wood as well.

In Maryland, substance abuse treatment programs support individuals struggling with drugs or alcohol, and those who also have mental health conditions. These rehab programs vary, depending on the level of care you need. Clients who are exiting detox or intensive inpatient treatment often enroll in outpatient rehab programs to ensure a robust continuity of care. Outpatient programs allow clients to remain in or return to their homes and workplaces while continuing to receive treatment, which typically includes addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Clients in opioid and/or alcohol recovery may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT), including medication induction and maintenance, at an outpatient facility.

These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.
